This is a remote position from either Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA (Candidate must live with in the state of Alabama or Georgia and hav e the capability to report to a physical office location for some in person meetings)

JOB SUMMARY
This position is accountable for the development of rates for the Open Access Transmission Tariff (“OATT”), preparation of rate filings with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”), development of transmission revenue projections, and performing financial studies and analyses. This position will interface with Transmission Policy and Services, Operating Company Transmission, Financial Planning, and Accounting organizations, SCS Financial and Contract Services, and SCS Accounting Research to ensure all rate activities are in compliance with the OATT. This position will also interface with Transmission Wholesale Customers and their Attorneys/Consultants and FERC Staff.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the preparation of OATT informational rate filings, true-up rate filings, other rate-related filings, revenue forecast and monthly variance reporting
Provide support related to the financial aspects of the OATT, including but not limited to rate methodology, model development, monitoring of financial performance, communication of appropriate use of information within the Southern and Operating Company financial planning process and to other transmission organizations
Liaison, as required, to secure the cost of service inputs required to support and develop the rate filings and other financial analysis
Serve as the transmission rates subject matter expert with accounting and billing organizations, Transmission Wholesale Customers and their Attorneys/Consultants, and FERC Staff
Prepare responses to data requests and other requests from FERC and OATT customers
Coordinate the transmission revenue forecasting process to ensure clear communication and incorporation into the Southern and Operating Company planning processes, financial projections, and energy budgets
Provide technology improvement solutions, modeling capabilities and program support for the Transmission Rates & Analysis function
Assist in the design and development of financial analysis tools
Coordinate the accounting review for all new Transmission and Interconnection agreements by the end of each quarter
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, Business, Math or other related field (MBA is a plus) required
Experience in accounting, ratemaking, rate cases, corporate accounting, budgeting, finance, or related is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products is required (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience communicating with and/or preparing communication for regulators or external customers is a plus
Previous experience working remotely or working in an autonomous or highly independent role preferred

Ability to coordinate the effective implementation of analytical and statistical tools to enhance the department’s information management system and to provide logistical support to financial studies, evaluations, and analyses

- Position will be required to abide by the Order 889 Final Rule Standards of Conduct issued by the Federal Regulatory Commission on April 24, 1996, and will be asked to sign the Standards of Conduct Acknowledgement Form after reviewing the standards
