Investor Relations Specialist


This position supports the Director of Investor Relations and the day-to-day activities of Southern Company Investor Relations including meeting and travel logistics, quarterly analyst calls, individual investor calls, presentations, travel, expense statements, and vendor contracts and invoices. Often self-directed, the role requires an experienced and confident professional, who can work with people at all levels internally and externally. A highly visible role, the successful candidate should be an articulate communicator who can effectively deal with confidential information and demanding constituencies.


  • Earnings call preparation and coordination, including supporting materials, distribution of earnings release to investment community contacts, and call logistics/monitoring

  • Work collaboratively with corporate access teams from major financial institutions to plan meaningful, efficient road shows for Southern Company executive management (includes: air, lodging, ground transportation, dining, conference registration, webcasts, handouts)

  • Maintenance of investor relations meeting activity and investor contact information

  • Investor mix and profile analysis

  • Presentation development for internal and external Investor Relations communications

  • Vendor management and oversite – primary contact for Investor Relations vendors with responsibility for service levels, invoice processing, and contract maintenance / renewals(in coordination with Supply Chain)

  • Liaison between Investor Relations and Corporate Communications for website content and press releases

  • Monitor and respond to external emails from investor relations website

  • Phone coverage for Investor Relations group

  • Expense statement reconciliation and time reporting


Education: Four (4) year college degree is preferred.


  • Experience working in multiple departments/organizations within a regulated utility is a plus

  • Experience working with senior level Executive Assistants is a plus

  • Experience with extensive travel and logistical coordination is a plus

  • Customer service experience is a plus

  • Experience with vendor relationships is preferred

  • Working knowledge of the multiple aspects of the company strongly preferred

  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat required

  • Experience in managing website content is a plus

  • Familiarity with the utility industry, financial markets, corporate communications, and/or corporate finance is a plus

  • Broad understanding of the company's operations, policies, and procedures
