IT Security Analyst
Purpose: This position will ensure the protection of Southern Company critical infrastructure by providing technical and compliance support of all IT Security technology assets deployed in NERC CIP environments.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or 8 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
Minimum 3 years supporting IT infrastructure or Information Security Technologies
Working knowledge of NERC CIP government regulations and the ability to interpret regulations, policies, standards and guideline to ensure compliance
1 year experience working with Microsoft and UNIX systems, as well as distributed network architecture
1 year experience working with communications technologies, including internet, private networks, virtual networks, and others used in the electric utility or a related industry
1 year experience working with Antivirus/Endpoint solutions which includes managing endpoint clients in a desktop and server environment, maintaining Antivirus definitions
1 year experience working with two factor authentication technology which includes token and certificate management experience
1 year experience working with vulnerability management tools which includes ability to maintain vulnerability management tools, conduct scans and ability to work with business partner to remediate any findings
A fundamental understanding of IT Security and the ability to apply risk management principles to all aspects IT Security
Valid state driver’s license
Advanced training, certification, or degree (preferred)
Ensure compliance of IT Security technologies deployed to meet NERC CIP standards and any other government regulations
Test and deploy antivirus definitions for specifically identified NERC CIP assets.
Maintain two factor authentication technology
Manage vulnerability assessments, scans, and remediation efforts
Support user account management, access provisioning/de-provisioning
Monitor vendors, review security patches, and apply patches to in-scope IT Security assets
Maintain baseline configuration of in-scope IT Security assets
Prepare and maintain documentation iaw internal work practices and NERC CIP requirements
Participate and contribute to audits, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and regulator RFCs.
Must be able to pass background requirements
This position requires (up to 5%) travel to office locations. Overnight travel is expected
