Workforce Optimization Lead

Purpose of Job

This role will focus on developing, communicating, and integrating the strategic workforce planning discipline and corresponding tools to build the strategic workforce planning competency across Georgia Power Company and Southern Company Services organizations. It works alongside HR Partners, the Results Delivery Office, Company and Business Unit workforce planning entities and company leaders to prioritize and consult on complex strategic workforce planning related issues in order to meet business goals. It manages additional HR projects and initiatives as assigned and provides HR business partner support responsibilities as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads the design, development, and integration of strategic workforce planning processes that address short and long-term business and financial goals.

  • Is a student of our business - develops deep understanding of current, short-term, and long-term business objectives that shape the trajectory of current and future workforce needs.

  • Teams well with HR Partners and the Company’s workforce planning entities to advise on strategic workforce planning decisions to include, organizational design, skill identification, talent development needs and future talent implications.

  • Establishes workforce planning process measures and oversight to achieve and evaluate process performance

  • Leads the coordination and integration of strategic workforce plan processes across the Company’s workforce planning community and senior leadership; Directs HR Business Partners on work and implementation of workforce optimization processes and programs

  • Assists with prioritization of initiatives presented to the Results Delivery office, scoping and selection of teams to address projects

  • Builds strong internal customer relationships with business leaders and HR partners

  • Proactively brings objectivity and external perspective through understanding market trends

  • Acts as an internal consultant to define and achieve strategic business and workforce objectives. Identifies and monitors relevant workforce metrics, understands data trends and makes recommendations to improve business conditions.

  • Manages additional HR projects and initiatives as assigned

Skills and Abilities

  • Collaboration with all levels of stakeholders to ensure workforce optimization objectives are on track; Demonstrated ability to consult with all levels of executives/management

  • Analytical skills used to interpret data such as demographics, employee assessments, employee surveys, retention and workforce trends

  • Strong leadership skills: influencing, developing and coaching employees & leaders and motivating others

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and to manage multiple tasks

  • Ability to diplomatically offer objective and creative solutions

  • Ability to respect and maintain confidential and sensitive information

  • Ability to champion and influence change and a willingness to take risks

  • Ability to build effective client relationships and demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to consulting services

  • Ability to be a supportive and participative team member with a high level of personal initiative and responsibility

  • Seasoned experience facilitating workforce strategy, planning and implementation

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related discipline, graduate degree a plus

  • 5 or more years of relevant Workforce Planning to include experience developing company wide, long range (3 years ) workforce plans

  • Project/Program Management experience.

  • Working understanding of Agile concepts and methodology (train the trainer provided)
