Southern Company Shipping and Receiving Coordinator in Ball Ground, Georgia


The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator is responsible for ensuring:

  • Inbound shipments are received, inspected and put away correctly.

  • Outbound shipments are complete and shipped in a safe and timely manner.

  • All shipments and transfers are entered correctly into the computer.

  • The work area remains clean, organized and safe.

  • Compliance with safety regulations and company policies


  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to learn and become proficient in the company Enterprise Planning System (ERP)

  • Respectful communication skills to support pleasant interactions with a multi-layered workforce

  • Motivated and organized team player with a positive attitude

  • Solid knowledge of inventory control and logistics procedures

  • Ability to report stock quantities and potential shortages

  • Ability to track and trend material usage

  • Ability to manage workload issues with strict deadlines and attention to detail.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

  • Must have good computer skills, knowledge of MS Office

  • Solid knowledge of inventory control

  • Excellent communication skills to support pleasant interactions with a multi-layered workforce

  • Ability to report stock quantities and potential shortages

  • Good understanding of logistics procedures

  • Ability to track and trend material usage

  • Good understanding of reporting

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Problem-solving abilities

    Essential Functions

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

  • Ensure compliance to safety regulations and company policies

  • Prepare reception area to receive incoming shipments

  • Direct the flow of incoming packages after arrival

  • Transfer stocked goods to a picking location

  • Pick and ship transfer orders

  • Create transport task to move product to other locations

  • Use computer system to track, check and prioritize product close out and shipping

  • Report to management on activities and issues

  • All other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Frequently stand, walk, pull, bend, and lift.

Work Environment

Exposure to weather, noise intensity level, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts.
