Southern Company Contract Agent in Birmingham, Alabama
This position is responsible for providing services and product contracts in support of the Alabama Power (non-generation) organization ensuring that overall risk and liability are properly managed and controlled. Successful candidate will work closely with user organizations to provide guidance and ensure contracting activities are conducted lawfully. Duties will include (but not be limited to) contract development, including Inquiries/Request for Proposal preparation, review of offers upon receipt from bidders, organizing, attending and leading project meetings and pre bid meetings, cost & price analysis, negotiations in accordance with company policies and procedures, risk assessment, preparing contract documents and agreements and post award activities.
This position will be filled at a level dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate and will be located in Birmingham, Alabama.
- Bachelor's degree in business, management, engineering (or related field).
- Suitable experience in the contract sourcing / development field OR direct experience with negotiating contract terms and conditions for services contracts
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must have basic knowledge and understanding of contract law, contract preparation and negotiation
Thorough understanding of contract procurement and administration controls
Must be able to negotiate contracts that maximize business financial results, minimize business risk, and achieve internal client satisfaction
Knowledge of company structure and organizations with general understanding of business unit operations
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills required
Must demonstrate strong internal customer focus and commitment to customer value
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with short "turn around" times and handle multiple activities, contracts and customers simultaneously
Attention to detail is critical
