Data Analytics Engineer/Analyst
This position is responsible for producing Visualizations and Dashboards from Work Management, Equipment Condition Monitoring, and other Generation data to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical power plant systems, components, and processes.
The incumbent will be a member of the Analytics Team which serves as the business product owner for the data integration and visualization tools and processes for Southern Company Generation. A key responsibility for this position is to conceive, create, and deploy visualizations to enable the fleet to better use and analyze data from multiple sources to obtain increased value.
This includes providing day-to-day technical support around data integration, analytics, and visualization, and for providing strategic guidance to the generation fleet in the areas of Asset Management Information Optimization (AMIO). The focus of the position is to provide increased insight to enable improved operational and maintenance decisions based on data.
The incumbent will provide field support to address individual plant questions & concerns and will also play a key role in like-unit comparisons, identifying and communicating best practices, applying lessons learned across the fleet, and ensuring consistency to improve processes. The position will also provide key support around the Generation M&D Center, Condition Based Maintenance, Predictive Analytics, and Root Cause Analysis Investigations.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or a 2-year or 4-year Technical Degree is preferred
Understanding and working knowledge of data integration and visualization techniques is required.
Experience with data management techniques to access, integrate, analyze and visualize data from multiple sources is required. Working experience with Tableau Software, or similar reporting and visualization program, is highly desired.
Understanding of plant Maintenance, Engineering, Operations; equipment, systems, and processes in a power plant or other manufacturing industry is preferred.
Experience in organizing and managing multiple projects at the same time. Proven ability to plan; ability to discern problems that need immediate attention versus those that allow more time to resolve.

Support effective Reporting & Data Analysis across all Work Management & Asset Condition Monitoring tools.
Coordinate and facilitate the effective use of data visualizations to drive better Work Management and Equipment Condition Assessments. Provide formal and informal training to end users around data visualization and analysis.
Serve as the primary interface between Generation Plants, Engineering & Construction Services, Operations Technology (OT) to identify improvements needed in data analysis tools and processes.
Actively participate in internal and industry user groups to stay abreast of latest visualization tools and analytics techniques. Test, validate, and implement improved processes for the fleet.
Establish ongoing relationships and effectively communicate with all levels of plant and corporate employees and management; vendors; peer groups and subject matter experts.
