Safety & Health Coordinator


This position is a technical resource for Alabama Power. The Safety & Health Coordinator will assist with statistical analysis and trending of safety data and have individual responsibility of safety programs. This individual will maintain Alabama Power Safety & Health guidelines and policies, as well as provide oversight of various APC communications, policies, and procedures related to employee safety and compliance.


  • Compile and analyze safety and health statistical information

  • Review and edit corporate safety program guides, guidelines, procedures, and forms for consistency and readability

  • Produce reports for injury and incident investigations

  • Develop safety communication materials, such as emails, memos, and safety alerts

  • Develop digital and printed promotional material for safety initiatives and training, such as posters, mailers, and videos

  • Create presentations for injury/illness prevention and safety educational material

  • Develop and/or facilitate the development of various safety and health programs and/or procedures to introduce new safety concepts or new compliance programs to the workforce

  • Represent Corporate Safety and Health at safety events throughout the company and assist with coordinating as needed

  • Assist with the maintenance of the Corporate Safety and Health website

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred

  • Knowledge and relative experience of industrial safety principles and practices

  • Knowledge of company organization and management structure and corporate policies and guidelines

  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to organize work with minimal supervision.

  • Proficient with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
