Instrumentation and Controls Technician - Bartlett's Ferry Hydro
This position is responsible for installing, calibrating and maintaining instruments and controls to facilitate the operations of a hydro power plant. Troubleshoot plant controls and electrical systems and complete repairs as necessary, which includes but is not limited to digital control system & circuits, power circuits, and control devices on plant equipment. The incumbent will also be expected to perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees. All work is to be performed in compliance with environmental permits and regulations. Complete data sheets, test records, and other operational documentation as required for equipment and systems. Understand and utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment in the performance of duties.
Minimum of two years’ experience in electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation and controls for power plants required.
Extensive experience with digital control systems, PLCs, Woodward Governor/Turbine Controls, and L&S Governor/Turbine Controls desired.
In depth knowledge of GE Cimplicity Human Machine Interface (HMI) desired
- Two-Year College/Technical Electronics Degree with a minimum of two years of experience (completion of Navy nuclear training will be accepted in lieu of college/technical degree)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Able to troubleshoot complex electronic systems.
Detailed knowledge of plant control and data acquisition systems desired.
Good problem solving and analytical skills necessary to determine current / future operating conditions and trends for optimizing plant performance.
Strong interpersonal skills, proven written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
Knowledge of hydro plant operation is desired.
Able to support a 24/7 schedule, including holiday and back shift work when necessary.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications.
Able to walk on grading and have finger dexterity
