Data Analyst, Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI)

The AMI Data Analyst position is a highly technical job that oversees the flow of AMI (Advanced Meter Infrastructure) data from 2.8 million customer meters to the GPC billing systems. This position ensures the continuous availability of high-quality data from the AMI Systems (Sensus RNI and MDM - C2M) to CSS and all other systems that rely on meter data (for billing and other uses, both internal and external). The AMI Data Analyst will ensure that operating systems and databases are operating correctly and reporting data. They will analyze the daily performance of all meters, ensure the continuity and quality of data, and identify potential operational problem areas. The AMI Data Analyst will ensure the resolution of any meter exceptions caused by system performance, application, or system failures to transmit meter data to other systems, such as CSS. They will work with other team members to prepare daily analysis of AMI system performance, report problem areas to identify performance trends, and develop operational processes to improve data collection.
The AMI Data Analyst will work closely with our partner organizations: Technology Organization, Billing Services, Power Delivery, and Metering Services. Strong relationships and clear communication between these groups are needed to ensure meter data is provided to all required systems in a timely manner to best serve our customers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills)
A four-year degree in business, computer systems, or engineering is preferred
A minimum of three (2+) years' experience in Customer Services, Metering Services, Information Technology or Distribution operations
Working knowledge of CSS, ARMS III, and Sensus desired.
Basic knowledge of residential and commercial rates, and GPC standards desired.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience performing data analysis and reporting desired.
Ability to work with and across the Customer Services and Metering Services departments
Ability to manage multiple activities, and the systems necessary to monitor and measure the operations of nearly 2.8 million meters
Ability to manage complex technology and business issues
Good interpersonal skills—ability to work with managers, peers, vendor, suppliers and internal resources
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide daily monitoring of AMI system performance
Assure continuous availability of high-quality data from the AMI systems to C2M / MDM by resolving data exceptions to ensure successful billing
Apply understanding of the technical architecture of the AMI systems to identify and troubleshoot issues that interrupt data flow
Work with appropriate field resources to collect billing data to improve billing performance
Report and communicate AMI activities and results operational activities to management.
Provide training as necessary to help other departments understand the AMI portion of the Billing process
Identify and troubleshoot issues with AMI Systems and infrastructure (hardware, software, and network) that interrupt data flow processes
Enhance work practices by assisting with specifying requirements, designing, building, testing, and evaluating the various; write queries, scripts, or programs to enhance data analysis
Partner with the AMI Network Analyst to ensure team goals are met
