Job Summary

The Marketing Analyst is responsible for developing programs to support the sale of existing products and identifying new customer offerings to enable achievement of the Company’s growth goals. This responsibility requires collaboration with other Southern Company entities to identify initiatives and leverage resources. The position will engage in product planning and business case development to include research, financial analysis, accounting treatment, regulatory requirements and all things associated with a go-to-market strategy. The role will have a focus on digital technologies that create opportunities for net income generation. The Marketing Analyst will partner with key stakeholders internally and externally to develop and implement efficient business models.

Job Requirements

  • Four-year degree preferred in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA a plus.

  • Job experience in field sales or marketing and knowledge of fundamental marketing principles.

  • Project management experience with cross-functional teams.

  • Understanding of wired and wireless communication systems that support digital technology applications.

  • Superior analytical skills with experience linked to strategic planning and business development processes.

  • Ability to create, edit or update business cases in support of new product introductions.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities; make decisions and take decisive action.

  • Excellent communication skills - written, oral and interpersonal.

  • Ability to interface effectively and persuasively with all levels of management, both internal and external audiences and to secure commitment to programs or goals.

  • Product development and or deployment experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop business cases to propose products and services that will drive net income growth with a particular focus on managed account customers.

  • Support Company’s sales goals of existing products (end use, outdoor lighting, energy services, etc.) for managed account customers by identifying new programs and promotions.

  • Coordinate market/customer research, financial analysis, legal and regulatory reviews, promotional plans and other required components to support business case development.

  • Partner with the Southern Company entities including New Ventures, the Energy Innovation Center, Southern Gas, Alabama Power and Georgia Power to share learnings that enable product development and promotion.

  • Build and establish effective relationships/partnerships inside Sales and across functional boundaries to engage the entire company in the sales effort.

  • Partner with appropriate business units including the Technology Organization and Power Delivery to deploy solutions related to MPC infrastructure such as AMI and Co-Location.

  • Establish relationships with reputable vendor partners to support development and deployment of new technology offerings.
