Customer Accounts Analyst

This position can work from Gulfport, Hattiesburg, or Meridian

This position will be responsible for conducting various Customer Service assessments. The successful candidate will compile and analyze data, monitor internal controls in order to comply with the Sarbanes/Oxley Act, all other appropriate financial controls and other Customer Accounting indicators to ensure maximum efficiency for Customer Service operations.


  • Bachelors’ Degree or higher or the equivalent work experience in a customer service position is highly desired

  • Comprehensive knowledge of CSS (MPC’s Customer Service System) and MPC Knowledgebase content

  • Extensive knowledge of division and Customer Care Center functions

  • General knowledge of finance and accounting, federal, state and local regulatory requirements, and Mississippi State Sales Tax

  • Adept knowledge of Rules Governing Electric Service, MPC Rates, policies and procedures

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Solid analytical abilities and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Sound decision-making skills

  • High degree of skill in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel


  • Conduct various Customer Service assessments in the Divisions and the Customer Care Center

  • Report findings of completed assessments to the Area Manager and Customer Service Management and conduct follow up reviews on outstanding findings

  • Analyze various Mobius reports to comply with internal controls; follow up with Customer Service Representatives when needed for corrections and/or training opportunity

  • Review transactions of customer accounts to ensure maximum efficiency in collection of revenue and to ensure proper policies and procedures are being followed in adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley and other financial controls

  • Adhere to all applicable compliance regulations for adjustments to electric service, rate/rider requirements, retention of documentation and obtaining appropriate approvals as necessary

  • Develop and write processes to meet Customer Service business needs

  • Contribute in the evaluation of MPC Knowledgebase and procedures

  • Support Area Manager in office management, PSC responses, internal messaging and other functions
