Functional Expertise :

  • Oversees the completion of landscaping and paving restoration repairs for Nicor Gas

  • Review contractor invoices for accuracy & timeliness

  • Approve Restoration Contractor Payments.

  • Review and Approve Monthly Liability Accruals when applicable

  • Responds to emergency situations in a specific region during after-hours (duty supervisor)

Business Acumen:

  • Provides vision and direction for direct external reports, contractors, within a functional or regional area of responsibility.

  • Evaluates and recommends process changes & improvement opportunities.

Engagement:

  • Responsible for enhancing productivity of external reports through training, motivation and performance coaching.

  • Interprets landscaping & paving contracts to effectively leverage and negotiate the application of contractual items with external service providers.

  • Maintains customer satisfaction through timely and thorough communication with individual customers, municipalities and other governmental agencies

  • Influences external contractors who represent the company by shadowing corporate values.

Driving Results:

  • Daily supervision of Nicor Gas landscaping & paving external contractors.

  • Audit Company/Contractor Damage and Restoration Contractor Repairs to ensure surface damage is being minimized and quality & accurate repairs are being completed.

  • Provide coaching and feedback when necessary to control damage and improve quality to respective business units & contractors

  • Holds external contractors and business units accountable to meet department metrics.

  • Creates and/or implements improved processes and techniques to enhance operating environments.

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • BA/BS Degree OR 3 year’s experience in construction and/or distribution operations in a gas utility, or other energy/utility related field.

Related Work Experience:

Preferred:

  • Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience. Specific Skills & Knowledge: Required:

  • MS Excel, Word, Power Point and Access – intermediate proficiency

  • Strong communication skills

  • Effective time management skills

Preferred:

  • PeopleSoft Financials – intermediate proficiency

  • Experience working with external resources/contractors

  • Experience interacting with customers & governing agencies

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Walking construction sites and excessive driving up to four (4) hours at a time

  • Potential for occasional overnight travel

  • On-call as needed
