Construction Coordinator – Power Services
The Power Services Business Unit is a unique, exciting, and growing small business environment within Georgia Power Company. These positions will work with a team that focuses on constructing and maintaining customer-owned substations and distribution systems.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the following:
Work with team that focuses on constructing and maintaining customer-owned substations, distribution systems, and large emergency generators.
Schedule and manage new business and system improvement projects on customer-owned facilities statewide
Provide field and technical support to team as required to meet customer needs and expectations
Ensure contractors work safely, efficiently, project construction is on schedule, quality work, and within budget
Review and approve final invoicing from contractors
Coordinate timely delivery and ensure all materials are properly accounted for during construction and upon job completion
Work closely with Power Services Project Managers to build and strengthen relationships with Region, HQ, and TMC personnel and external customers
Work closely with Project Managers and Engineering to promote sales and address design and maintenance issues
Candidate preferred with energy systems work experience in the backup generation, lighting, or heating/cooling area
Relocation benefits are not available with this position. Location will be a factor in final selections.
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum of seven (7) years Distribution Construction/Maintenance experience is required, with some journeyman level or engineering rep experience.
Experience managing contractors desired, especially high voltage electrical contractors
Varied experience with overhead, underground, duct systems, substation, and secondary voltage electrical all are a plus.
Experience working in a self-directed environment desired
Experience working directly with customers desired
Leadership experience desired
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Working knowledge of construction practices, techniques, and equipment used in Distribution construction and maintenance
Proven record of safe work behaviors
Working knowledge of JETS is desired
Ability to work in a self-directed environment
Ability to quickly learn new skills and adjust to unfamiliar challenges
Working knowledge of cable locating, emergency restoration, and substation trouble-shooting.
Effective interpersonal and written communication skills is critical, including with key customers
Ability to make sound decisions and solve problems
Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and communicate construction plans and specifications
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to handle multiple projects in various locations
General knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to organize and accurately document the facility inspections performed
Ability to be flexible due to changing construction demands
These positions are provided an assigned company vehicle and typically work a 4-10 schedule M-Th, with occasional odd hours on short notice. Must be available for occasional after hours, weekend and holiday work. These positions can require frequent overnight travel, depending on the location of projects.
