JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to facilitate analytical, tracking, and reporting processes for the AMI Solutions department. This role includes gathering, interpreting, and formatting metrics, providing analytics and trends within AMI Solutions processes, and creating new metrics and reports as required. The position focuses on developing new insights and understanding of business performance, based on data and statistical methods.

Key aspects of this role include addressing business needs, formulating, and testing solutions to business problems, and assisting in the development strategy and implementation of policies and procedures for these supporting functions. The incumbent is accountable for awareness and compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances and developing key functional relationships and measuring key performance indicators for both internal and regulatory service levels. Analysis into department trends will support management’s decision-making process, developing accelerated actions to address undesirable trends, and support successful business practices and tracking of metrics to ensure compliance is met for AMI Solutions and other departments. The role also includes direct support of management and providing guidance/coaching to a peer group of professional level employees.

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required: BA/BS Degree or equivalent

Related Work Experience:

Required: 5 years utilities or related experience

3 years analyzing data and recommending process improvement

Demonstrated experience of analysis and intermediate understanding of natural gas industry and/or AMI functions

Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable recommendations

Advanced knowledge of business-related systems (i.e. CIS, MDM, CC&B, etc.)

Preferred: Demonstrated effective supervisory competencies

Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Specific Skills & Knowledge:

Required:Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems

Advanced Proficiency of business analytics software and technical tools (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

SQL or other data-related languages, strong interpersonal skills. High degree of initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively

Possess a robust attention to detail and ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets to identify trends, insights and/or solutions.

Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments along with good organization and time management skills.

Preferred:CC&B and MDM applications or other business-related systems – content and data structures

AMI concepts and related technologies, Reporting tools and platforms, especially Microsoft PowerBI

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Functional Expertise:

•Administer analytical tracking and reporting processes of business metrics for internal use

•Leverage analytical processes for AMI and customer-related data to formulate action items from interpretative results.

•Gather, interpret, and format data and metrics for presentations for both internal and external use

•Utilize and encourage the use of innovative tools and techniques to dissect and interpret information

•Drive operational efficiencies in a consulting role through process control and oversight,

to increase business optimization and produce improved department results.

•Investigate and resolve complex or escalated inquiries and process gaps.

•Create visual presentations and reports (tables, charts, graphs, etc) of key performance indicators and other data, utilizing tools like Excel and PowerBI

•Fulfill ad hoc data requests as necessary. Work with requestor to determine the needs and develop effective and efficient processes to obtain information

•Analyze AMI and related data for trends, looking for insights and operating efficiencies, both within AMI Solutions and for other departments.

•Define requirements and drive implementation of new reports and measures.

•Ensure accuracy of data presented in reports, looking for anomalies and/or issues to investigate further.

Business Acumen:

•Initiate activities to support the needs and strategic direction of the business

•Know business drivers and metrics that drive the business.

•Leverage industry trend and benchmark strategies to identify business improvement opportunities (continuous improvement).

•Provide forward thinking insight supported by quantitative analysis to drive improvements.

•Identify business needs, gaps, inefficiencies, and risk exposure to make recommendations that drive continuous improvement.

•Conduct detailed analysis of AMI performance, including review and analysis of trends and variances, provide explanation of variances and perform comparisons, forecasts and data validation 1

•Work with internal business partners, including training and auditing, to define best practice

processes for AMI functions.

•Provide analytical research and problem-solving to identify problems, issues, errors and determine whether causes are system, procedural or manual in nature. 1

•Identify and evaluate improvements to systems supporting the AMI-related functions.

•Serve as SME on special projects representing AMI-related functions

•Consolidate analysis, summarize key findings and trends, and produce presentations at an executive level

•Complete ad hoc requests for research, analysis, and reporting by pulling from diverse internal and external data sources, implementing the appropriate method of analysis, and offering relevant insights 1

•Answer other departments’ questions and inquiries regarding AMI-related data

Engagement:

•Liaise with peers and the AMI Solutions team to identify business opportunities and needs

•Facilitate and lead team discussions to encourage diverse perspectives and knowledge share

•Participate in recurring employee & leadership meetings to understand business initiatives and key metrics.

•Manage partnerships and relationships within and outside the AMI Solutions team.

•Partner with management in decision making processes and influence the actions of others to ensure the achievement of business goals

•Partner cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization to meet business objectives.

•Pro-actively schedule, participate, and/or conduct meetings to discuss business influences

•Act as liaison or business unit contact for TO-based tools and vendor access

Driving Results:

•Develop project plans for small AMI projects, plans and efforts

•Facilitate the progression of projects and initiatives for AMI functions using project management strategies and techniques

•Ensure accuracy of work meets departmental goals.

•Ensure timeliness of work completion meets departmental goals.

•Ensure timely follow up.

•Leverage knowledge to provide decision making services within and outside AMI Solutions.

•Participate in discussions regarding other departments’ key metrics & work with teams to develop action plans.

•Collaborate within and outside the AMI Solutions Team to develop/implement new ideas and processes to reduce inefficiencies.

•Identify process improvement and policy development based on needs and solutions for the business

•Identify individual performance opportunities and align with development plans

•Complete employee baseline training and any other applicable training necessary for role success.

•Drive improved productivity through proactive and continual business process analysis and recommendations.

•Work with AMI Solutions’ team members to review solutions (TO-based and non-TO-based) to business problems, and provide input and recommendations.

Explanation: There are general processes and some reports in place, but every situation is different and can require

independent analysis of the data, situation, and processes to determine the right course of action. The

business analyst will be empowered to make decisions and recommendations based on their analysis.

Task Complexity:

Tasks are straight-forward, routine, and often repetitive.

Tasks are varied and fairly complex.

Assignments are quite varied and highly complex.

Explanation: There are a few reports and data analysis actions that are repetitive, but most will require analysis

across multiple systems to decide the right course of action. There are many situations that will require complex analysis and troubleshooting.
