Nicor Gas, a subsidiary of Southern Company Gas, the largest natural gas distribution only company in the U.S. and subsidiary of Southern Company, is offering a paid internship within its Reservoir Engineering department for the Summer 2024 semester .

Description:

The Nicor Gas Reservoir Engineering internship is a great opportunity for current engineering students to receive hands-on experience working at Nicor’s aquifer Nicor Gas aquifer storage fields in northern Illinois.

Location: Naperville, IL or other gas storage field locations

Work hours: 40 hours per week

Qualifications include:

• Currently pursuing Juniors and Seniors in Petroleum Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Petroleum Geology degrees.

• Minimum GPA: 3.0

• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Products

• Basic understanding of well construction/workovers

• Accepted Alternative Majors: Petroleum Geology, Geology, Hydro-geology

Specific assignments may include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting engineers in the field on well workovers

• Log interpretation analysis (using in house software)

• Reservoir Data Analysis

• Create Cross-Section Plots

• Research New Industry Software and Provide Recommendations

• Participate in the Intern Annual Project

• Assisting engineers with the duties as assigned

Internship will take place primarily at Nicor’s main General Office location in Naperville, IL, and/or other gas storage field locations. During the course of the internship, interns may also be required to visit or work at one or more of seven gas storage field locations within 2-3 hours of the main Naperville office.
