Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Plant Vogtle 3&4 Site Cyber Security group is seeking a high performing individual with an analytical mindset, strong technical and leadership skills to support commissioning and operation of the next generation nuclear power station. This position will be located at Southern Nuclear Company's Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, Georgia.

Southern Nuclear, a subsidiary of Southern Company, manages and operates six nuclear power electric generating plants that provide approximately 20 percent of the electricity used in Alabama and Georgia. Southern Nuclear is leading the nuclear renaissance by building the first new U.S. nuclear reactors in more than 25 years. When completed, the two Westinghouse AP1000 reactors currently under construction at Plant Vogtle will make the facility the largest in the U.S. with four reactors on one site. JOB SUMMARY

This position provides personnel supervision and technical leadership to develop, implement, and operate the Vogtle 3&4 Cyber Security Program under the direction of the Cyber Security Manager and in accordance with the Vogtle 3&4 Cyber Security Plan. During the construction phase this includes supervising employees, overseeing contractors and vendors, leading the Cyber Security Assessment Team as needed, directing activities to support assessment walk-down verification and integrity during construction controls, supporting fleet integration efforts, and implementing the ongoing cyber security operational procedures. During the operational phase, this includes execution of the operational procedures, maintaining staff readiness, leading the cyber security incident response team, and supporting external organizations to fulfill their cyber security program responsibilities.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage staff and contractor resources to support cyber security needs

  • Establish direction for working procedures and training of staff in support of strategic direction from the Cyber Security Manager

  • Support Nuclear Regulatory Commission inspections and engagements as needed

  • Supervise development and implementation of a comprehensive cyber security program to ensure compliance with 10 CFR 73.54 “Protection of digital computer and communication systems and networks”

  • Manage development of cyber security training for cyber security staff and the broader site organization

  • Support industry cyber security initiatives

  • Interface with Physical Security, Emergency Planning, Initial Test Program, Digital Systems, Information Technology, Licensing, Engineering, and Maintenance to ensure cyber security responsibilities are integrated.

  • Communicate effectively with the multiple stakeholders.

  • Transform cyber security regulatory requirements into cyber security policy, standards, procedures and guidelines.

  • Address technical issues where design or licensing basis requirements could be impacted by construction activities or new design changes

  • Provide oversight of the scope of work activities and deliverables performed by vendors at their facilities and on-site to support commercial operation.

  • Supervise and oversee the scope of remediation activities.

  • Support department planning efforts for remaining work activities.

  • Use INPO guidance to support a Nuclear Culture within the department

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (from an ABET accredited program), or other related technical discipline is required.

  • GIAC, CISM or CISSP certification(s) desired.

  • Advanced Technical or Management Degree is desired.

Background/Experience:

  • Five years’ experience with regulatory compliance and/or rigorous configuration management required; three years’ nuclear operations training, experience or qualifications may substitute.

  • Knowledge and experience with computing technologies, cyber security concepts and incident response is preferred.

  • Prior nuclear experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge and experience with the Westinghouse AP-1000 reactor design is preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with the Emerson Ovation control system platform is desired.

  • Project management / performance management / leadership experience desirable (may be demonstrated through activities inside or outside a work environment).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience coordinating with various organizations outside of primary organization of which applicant is a part is desirable.

  • Well organized and capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills

  • Exhibits leadership qualities – drive for results, coach and develop employees, set and reinforce high standards

Other Requirements:

  • Serve as a flexible member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO).
