Provide strategic leadership, vision and establish initiatives for the Outage Work Management department, including initial staffing and organization. Coordinate with fleet Work Management Directors and Manager for alignment. Lead and direct the Work Management outage planning and scheduling coordinators and department representatives. Coordinate with the Startup Test Manager to develop an integrated schedule for all activities required to perform initial core load, plant alignment and heatup, startup testing and power ascension.

  • Provide oversight and direction for development of initial schedule for outage template and initial cycle plan.

  • Coordinate with Startup testing and Initial Test program to facilitate an efficient overall schedule encompassing testing and outage execution

  • Planning, scheduling, organizing and executing refueling, maintenance, and forced outages while maximizing the efficient use of available resources and minimizing the impact to unit safety, reliability, and cost.

  • Providing strategic vision, aligning work priorities and monitoring outage preparation and execution. Monitor key performance indicators.

  • Managing outage milestones such that initiatives are being achieved, milestone product quality meets established standards, and prompt corrective actions are established for recovery, where necessary.

  • Developing a core/base schedule to support long range planning of outages.

  • Strategic oversight and maintenance of the outage risk management program - EOOS, outage risk assessment and operational risk awareness (ORA).

  • Provide oversight of daily activities to ensure schedule development and outage preparation progress is being made consistent with the outage milestones and management objectives.

  • Ensuring that Nuclear Safety is always a priority during the outage schedule development and outage execution.

  • Benchmarking both inside and outside the fleet to find and implement outage preparation and execution best practices and maintaining an environment of continuous improvement including a robust lessons learned program.

  • Working with Work Controls Peer Team and Fleet counterparts to ensure best practices are being implemented as a Fleet.

  • Implementing the applicable sections of the Site Excellence Plan and the initiatives defined in the refueling outage notebook.

  • Works with the Work Controls Director and Manager to ensure the correct relationship between outage work and daily work is maintained and teamwork is maximized in developing an integrated Cycle Plan that includes online and outage work.

  • Coordinates with the Work Controls Director and Manager to ensure the transitions between outage and online are made as seamlessly as possible.

  • Maintaining Emergency Response Organization (ERO) qualifications current - both personally and direct reports - and participating, as needed.

  • Managing the outage backlog to minimize the aggregate impact to the unit from out-of-service equipment.

  • Coordinating special projects as assigned by the Work Management Director.

  • Assessing the budgetary impact of the Outage Scope and making recommendations to the Management Team on reconciling scope and budget.


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in applicable Engineering field OR current/previous Senior Reactor Operator or Reactor Operator license or certification required with high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements:

  • A total of 8 years of responsible experience, at least 1 year of which should be nuclear power plant experience

  • A maximum of four years of this 8 years may be fulfilled by related technical or academic training

  • 5 years nuclear plant experience is desired

  • Applicable experience in operations, maintenance, or work management is required.

  • Previous leadership experience is desired.
